Overview: National Debt Relief is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our growing technology team. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, the Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of critical infrastructure systems, ensuring the highest levels of availability, scalability, performance, and security. The Systems Engineer ensures the smooth day to day operation and scalability of the system infrastructure. This role with work alongside members of the Network and Helpdesk teams with a goal of maximum reliability of the systems infrastructure while maintaining system integrity. Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of all infrastructure systems of the corporate network.
  • Administer and support all aspects of Windows Servers across a physical and virtual (VMware) environment, including installation, configuration, patching, security hardening and storage/capacity planning.
  • Manage public cloud infrastructure (Azure and AWS).
  • Manage Active Directory & Entra domain services including GPO, DNS and DHCP, domain/forest trusts, Kerberos constrained delegation, schema extensions, authentication protocols, service accounts, security principals & identifiers, replication, certificate services, resource groups, conditional access.
  • Manage the O365 environment including troubleshooting, implementing new features, and managing end to end Exchange mail flow, archiving, retention, and spam prevention.
  • Implement a patch management and application deployment process and tooling for servers; maintain application packaging and OS patching standards.
  • Partner with the network team to implement, configure and maintain solutions involving data encryption, secure file transfers, intrusion detection and data leakage prevention to protect client data.
  • Design PowerShell automation for operational processes across the server environments.
  • Serve as an escalation point for L3 tickets from the end user support team.
  • Develop and document systems standardizations and configuration procedures.
  • Keep up to date on current technologies, industry news, systems compliance requirements, standards, and industry trends.
  • Work with the Director of Infrastructure to develop a change management strategy, peer review process and incident and problem management policies that ensure standardized methods and procedures are used for all changes.
  • Research and recommend solutions and tools; perform proof of concepts and vendor comparisons, offer solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Assist the Director of Infrastructure with Business Continuity technology planning and testing.
  • Mentor and train staff on systems operations and best practices.
  • Systems changes outside of business hours or after-hours support may be required.
Qualifications: Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT/Engineering related discipline preferred or equivalent experience
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert and/or AWS SysOps Administrator Associate
  • 7+ years proven hands on systems engineering experience designing, building, and maintaining technology infrastructure.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience with Active Directory setup and configuration, as well as a strong foundation in other directory service technologies including GPO, DNS and DHCP
  • Strong experience with Office 365 platform and Exchange online including DNS (MX, SPF), archiving, retention, and spam prevention.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows technology and related systems, including patch management, software deployment tools and security.
  • Strong experience implementing and supporting virtual sever infrastructure (VMware) and virtual desktop infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of public DNS (TXT, CNAME, SOA, NS, etc.) & public/private certificate protocols and models.
  • Proven experience in capacity planning, performance monitoring and maintenance planning to ensure high availability.
  • Experience developing detailed windows administrative standards and documentation.
  • Public cloud technology experience – Azure or AWS preferred.
  • PowerShell scripting and automation skills
  • Sound understanding of operation and change management methodologies and familiarity with industry standards (ITIL)
  • Financial services industry experience is preferred.

Compensation Information: Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings.
